Marie from Victorville, CA

Hello and blessed be! :)

I borrowed a book called Drawing Down The Moon when I was 14. This was 24 years ago. I invoked the four corners and a Daemon. I had a really bad experience when performing the rituals and I never withdrew my invocation. I've had bad (really bad) things happen over the course of my life and never practiced the Craft from then on as I have guilt and fear related to my rather naïve attempt. If you could please help in any way by directing me in how to reduce the negative force following me I would so sincerely appreciate it. I know that there are supposedly covens near me; I have no idea how to find then. Google isn't helping me. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Dear Marie,

I'm not sure what ritual you performed out of Drawing Down the Moon, but it shouldn't have invoked a "Daemon." I'm going to have to re-read that book to see what may have gone wrong.

There is a great website called The Witches' Voice which can help you find individuals and/or covens in your local area.

Eden from Belgium

Thank you for helping me with my previous question! It's been a lot more peaceful in my home.

I'm sorry if these questions seem weird,. I know that you're busy. I've been reading a lot of the posts, but I'm not sure if it's the same. I'm sorry if you've already answered this question.

So here's my question: Lately I've gotten feelings that someone was touching me. Sometimes my arm or leg in class, but mostly at night. It feels like someone is lying next to me and laying his/her arm around me. It doesn't feel threatening but really relaxing and loving. I asked my friend, who has been practicing Wicca way longer than me, who said it was something bad.

Something else is that I seem to hear things that others can't. In the cafeteria at my school, I suddenly heard music like it was playing from an old boombox. My other friends didn't hear it. When I was on a campsite, I heard a football game like it was playing from a TV. Again, no one else heard it. I looked up clairaudience, but on those websites it said that you hear voices that are not yours. I have never had that, so that can't be, right? Once I was with my grandmother, and she was on the other side of a room packed with people. Suddenly I heard her voice as clear as if she was standing next to me. I wasn't even concentrating on her, but I heard her conversation perfectly. As soon as she went away it was gone.

I'm not saying I have supernatural hearing or something like that, because that doesn't exist, right? I really hope you can help me.

Dear Eden,

Your friend is an idiot. If the energy feels relaxing and loving, then it is. It is most likely a family member or friend who has passed away or your spirit guide offering you comfort.

The boombox music and football game you hear could have come from clairaudient abilities. It could have been your spirit guide (or just a spirit) trying to get your attention.

As for your grandmother's conversation you overheard from across a crowded room, some people do have really keen hearing which can come and go randomly. It's not common... but it's not all that uncommon either.

Katie from Alexandria, VA

Hello! Things in my house have gone a bit wonky. Things keep breaking (oven, stove, car, dryer) and this combined with things changing (mostly in good ways - my mom got a new job and we're getting a new car, but change stresses everyone out) is just making things metaphysically sticky. Do you have any ideas of how we can cut through all the wonky energies and stress levels? Maybe keep things from breaking all at once?

Thanks and I love your shop cats!

Dear Katie,

I wish I had a better answer... but no, not really. If the oven, stove, car, and dryer were old, then it was just time for them to be replaced. Since great things are happening despite the "wonky energies and stress," I'd leave it alone.  Find better ways to deal with the stress!

Laurent from Woodstock, VA

Hi there!

I'm sure you all get love spell questions all the time, but here goes haha. My lover and I have hit a bit of a rough patch due to distance. He feels that he's no longer in a place to have a relationship. My instincts are telling me that our extended separation played a huge role in this, and I admit that I feel guilty even though I had to leave due to circumstances outside our control. I still pine for him every day. I wanted to know any recommendations you had regarding a spell to help re-stoke the flames. As I said, I will be with him again soon, the end of April to be exact.

Thank you so much!

Dear Laurent,

I would wait until the end of April to do anything. There's no point in re-stoking the fires if there can't be any stroking after ;-)

Read my response to Merlin from Camelot for a great love spell to use when the time is right.

Jennifer from Selangor, Malaysia

Good day. I'm from Malaysia. Ok, this may be a bit lengthy, but it is important for me. I'm desperate.

Last year on my birthday at 2 am, I had this dream of a person who was my schoolmate and also my admirer. All of a sudden after 21 years, he came into my dream. In the dream, we went back to our school days and how he met me, then jumped into a stage when we were adults and we started dating. In the last part, we get married.

The weird thing is he never uttered a single word in the dream. He appears to me bright and shining and with a smile.

I think he is dead, because if a person is dead, they appear in a person's dream without talking. Correct me if I'm wrong. I told this to my friends, but they said they don't know if he is still alive. How can I make contact to find out if he is still alive? Can I write a card and burn (indirectly) to send him? Thanks for your advice.

Dear Jennifer,

Your dream could represent one of two things. The first could be that your friend has passed on and he was saying his goodbyes to you. If this is true, then I'm sorry for your loss.

It could be love getting ready to enter into your life. Your friend probably represents the qualities your new love will have and the natural ease you will feel with him.

According to one old wives' tale, if you write the name of a person whom you wish to contact you on a piece of paper and place it under your phone, they will call you within three days.

Let me know if you find out about your friend.

Best of luck...

Paige from Shamokin, PA

For a long time I have been feeling like I was being watched. Sometimes I get really warm all over my body and or get light headed. I never feel like I'm alone or have any privacy unless I am in the restroom. Do you know what this means? I was taking a bath tonight around 8-9 pm when I put my right hand under the water and my thumb got this funny feeling. My thumb felt like it was burning - you know when you touch a hot burner or something like that - so I took my thumb out of the water and examined it. There were three indents in it all in a line. Have you ever had someone dig their nails into your skin and leave those marks? That's what it looked like, only going left to right. Also, there were two or three; I'm not sure. I shrugged it off and put my hand back in the water only to have the same burning sensation so I took it out and examined it again. There were two hole-shaped indents, one on the left side of the line of indentations and the other above the first hole. That's when I got curious, and I stuck my hand back in the water only to feel the same burning. I kept my hand in the water until the burning faded. I pulled my thumb out of the water only to see a third hole-shaped indentation on the top of my thumb. My thumb didn't burn anymore. I examined my hand after the bath and the marks were still there. Now after, I see my thumb and there's no mark. Is this a sign or something or just plain paranoia?

Dear Paige,

The feelings of being watched and feeling warm and/or light headed are connected with spirit activity happening around you.  It's nice that they usually leave you alone while you're in the bathroom.

As for your other question, I have no idea what could have happened. If it were a spirit, I would think it would mark you out of the water rather than in it.  Has it happened again?

William from Oakley, CA

My mother is using witchcraft on me in a very bad way. I know because I found a yellow and purple spell book printed in 1976. I don't have a problem with witchcraft, but she uses it to invade my private thoughts. She uses coughing, grunting, excess breathing, and also tapping noises. The question I have is according to witchcraft laws and rules, isn't causing physical harm to the body or mind considered an attack spell? Using black magic against someone living in the same house (the relationship is mother and son), casting spells, has a Holy Bible in the house, and using spells to cause deadly force in the name of Jesus Christ... isn't that considered treason and could be considered a war crime? Thank you for your consideration in advance. Best wishes and God bless.

Dear William,

Unethical, yes. Treason/war crime, no.

Just because she has a purple spell book (printed in 1976) doesn't mean she's casting spells on you. Have you found the spell in said book that causes or requires coughing, grunting, excessive breathing, and tapping noises?

God and Goddess bless you and keep you safe from harm.

Britt from Minnesota

Hello, I was wondering if you know if it's possible to become a werewolf, like if you have any spells or magic salve? Also, do you know of any witches in Minnesota?

Dear Britt,

Check out a website called Witchvox to look for other witches in your area.

But dude, seriously drop the werewolf shit before meeting new people or everyone is just going to think you're crazy! Don't get me wrong y'all; I love the idea of werewolves. That whole running, crawling, nakedness, scenting, hunger, instinct, and primal sexiness. I'm behind it in my movies, television shows, and books - because it's fiction. In reality, if some alpha male came onto me like that, I would probably kick him in the junk and laugh while he cried!

Sara from Willits, CA

Hello. I'm Sara and I'm 17 years old. I have received a lot of spiritual enlightment in the past year. I can feel it.

No more than two months ago, I did my first ritual in the privacy of my bathroom. My love interest was there (my closest friend who has had mutual on and off attractions with me for some time). He was spending the night at my house, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to practice a simple ritual. This was a love ritual.

I told him I needed privacy for my ritual. Since we are both open with each other about our spirituality, I knew he would understand. Once alone, I had a white candle - spiritual knowledge, a red candle - love/passion/sex, a lighter, a bowl of water, a piece of paper, and a pen.

I wrote a message to the Goddesses, asking for clarity on my love situation with this boy. I wanted to know if he was still attracted to me, and I wanted them to help him see me as more attractive. After I wrote my message, I concentrated on my quest for clarity and my feelings for him. Both candles were lit, so I used the flame of the white candle to burn the paper. I let it burn as far as I could without burning my hand before I dropped it in the bowl of water and let it go out.

After this, I buried the white candle in the backyard, since the ritual I used stated that the candle could not be found and relit by anybody after the ritual or it wouldn't work.

The same night, I left the red candle out. Me and my friend slept in the living room, and this time instead of leaving the dim light in the kitchen on, he lit the red candle (love candle) and let it burn all night. I felt at peace as I fell asleep.

Now it's a few weeks later, and just the other day I saw the white candle in the backyard sticking out of the soil just enough to see what it was. I recovered it.

Soon after that, I noticed the signs. He seems to like me again. We were both in a flirty mood when I went to his house today and looked in each other's eyes, and felt a connection.

I'm sorry I couldn't keep a long story short, but this feels so magical (because it is.) I just want to be sure this had to do with the ritual. What do you think? Thank you for taking the time to read my spiel.

Dear Sara,

Yes, it sounds like it could be directly connected with the ritual.

Ritamarie from Orlando, FL

Okay, at this point I don't know where to go, so I'm hoping one of you could shed some insight. My fiance and I have been together going on four years. His parents are into Santeria as is his older brother. They have altars and perform rituals and everything. My fiance is not - or should I say was not - into it until late last year when his father suddenly died of a heart attack. Immediately the day after, he lost his job and we ended up getting an eviction. During this time, my fiance inherited a santo. The santo was supposed to stand for getting rid of all that was not necessary. I don't know anything about the religion, but I asked him if there was a chance the santo did not want us together, and he said that wasn't how it worked. My fiance and I have always lived together in our own apartment, and his mother has always disliked me because I come from a very strong Christian household. During holidays we would spend together or anytime I would go to their house, I would get sick (my energy completely drained, headaches, etc.). I asked if the santo had to stay in our apartment and he said no. His mother decided she wanted to move to Tampa and convinced my fiance to go with her after we just signed a new lease here in Orlando. Because of the distance, I don't get to see him much. In the past month, I've seen him once, but he is the type to always at least call or text me just to check up. The past two weeks, I've noticed he doesn't call or text me. If I text him, he hardly ever answers and tells me I should understand he is tired from work and just wants to sleep. He has turned very angry, and yesterday I texted him to tell him our dog was sick (his mother hates the dog), and he started telling me that all I do is annoy the hell out of him. I have seen a psychic before all of this happened, back in June, and she confirmed that his mother has put some type of control over him. Also, the psychic kept mentioning that we were going to encounter distance for a long time. Now I understand what she was talking about. My question there anything I can do on my end to try to break him of whatever she put on him? The psychic has confirmed that he is my destiny and that we are meant to be together, but I don't know if there is a way, or do I just have to let his mother do this?

Dear Ritamarie,

There are very few things that I won't mess with. One of them is the bond between a mother and a son. Let me tell you that you're treading on some thin ice here because you're blaming his mom for what's happening with your fiance. It could be possible she has nothing to do with it. There are a couple of Santerian books easily available which can help you break the curse/hex that COULD have been placed; however, this is assuming something like that has been done. The nice thing about Santeria is that it has a lot of Christian/Catholic undertones to it, so the saints and incantations they use should be okay with your Christian background. If you and your fiance get back together, you need to take that shit to the grave! Don't ever tell him you performed any kind of spell work, hex work, or mojo involving him and his mother. That's a sure breakup right there.

Kelly from Port Charlotte, FL

Hello, I wanted to thank you all for the house-selling spell; it worked "like a charm". ;)

I would like to ask another question, if I may. Sometimes when a loved one is ill or depressed, I will lie in bed at night and visualize where they are and me surrounding them with white or pink light. Usually they will be better the next day when I talk to them. But sometimes I will get sick or be really tired and drained the next day.

My question is, does doing this take vitality from me? Is there anything I can do to counteract it? It is worth it to me to make them better; I just wanted to hear your opinion on this. Thanks so much!

Dear Kelly,

Yes, what you are doing is using your own energy to send healing energy to them. That drains and depletes your own energy supply, which can cause exhaustion, insomnia, extreme appetite changes, mood swings, and just a general drained feeling. There are two things you can do to counteract this. The first one is to ground and center after you send energy. Then pull healing, cooling energy from Mother Earth up into your body. This will replenish your energy. You'll still be a little tired the next day, but it won't be nearly as bad as what you're used to dealing with. Another suggestion would be to use an alternate form of energy such as Reiki.

Jodi from Massachusetts

Five years ago, my husband and I performed a fertility spell. During the spell, we had to write down a girl's name and a boy's name and put it into a box. We tied a ribbon around it, and it's been sitting in my drawer since the spell was complete. The spell was performed on the first full moon of winter. I ovulated the first full moon of spring and my son was due on the Blue Moon the following winter. We named him the boy's name in the box.

For years, I've felt like our daughter was waiting in that box to be born. We are now pregnant and expecting a little girl in two months. We had planned to name her the girl's name in that box. But my son has chosen a different name for her. He actually knew I was pregnant immediately upon conception. He could sense she was there and knew it was a girl long before we did.

My question is, would it upset the Gods and Goddesses who granted us these gifts or the spell by choosing a name other than what we had chosen five years ago?

Thanks very much for your input.

Dear Jodi,

No, it wouldn't offend the gods. It was five years ago. People change in five years. And if you and your husband like the name your son chose, by all means, go with that name. Perhaps the Lord and Lady gave your son the baby's new name!

Cynthia from Bronx, NY

What spell should I use to make my ex-boyfriend have sex with me again so I can get pregnant?

Dear Cynthia,

Are you fucking stupid? Why would you want to have your ex's baby? Seriously. You would never get rid of him. He would forever be in your life. I want you to remember your ex; remember every nasty thing he did, every nasty thing he said, each horribly irritating habit he had. That's what you'll be putting up with for the rest of your life.

Think about the baby. Those beautiful eyes will look up at you someday and ask why daddy isn't around. Then you can look into those sweet eyes and say "hey, I just wanted to get laid again." There's a magical fucking moment in the making!

Lilly from Tallahassee, FL

At a young age I could see things that weren't there and would know details about a place I had never been to. I can sense and sometimes see the residing spirits of a place and almost feel or relive part of its history. These things have continued, along with some mild predictions and premonitions. However, sometimes I think it is all in my head or that I want so badly to believe there is more and that I have a gift that I fool myself. I was looking for advice on what to do or how to find out more information. I am also interested in learning more about Wicca.

Dear Lilly,

To learn more about controlling your abilities, read our advice to Nicholl from Woodbridge, VA.

When it comes to clairvoyant or psychic abilities, the most important thing to do is have faith that the things you're seeing, sensing, or feeling is true. Have faith in yourself and faith in what gifts you have. By doubting yourself and your gifts, you are making your abilities weaker. Learning to control and master your gifts will allow you to live a better life and quite possibly help someone in the future.

Overwhelmed from Vienna, VA

Do you have any recommendations for someone who is quite busy? I'm a single parent and student with two jobs. I want to be able to practice, even just meditate, but I so rarely have even five minutes to myself. When I do, I don't feel like I'm giving 100%. Is there anything effective I could do to fit into a tight schedule?

Dear Overwhelmed,

Girl! You are speaking my language! First of all, you HAVE TO make time. Even if it's only two or three minutes. Let me give you an example of something you can do. Set up a small altar where you get ready in the mornings. Have a couple of chime candles to represent the god and goddess, a couple of gemstones, and something to represent yourself. Every morning while you're getting ready, light each candle and give thanks for the day you're about to have. Allow them to burn while you're getting ready, but make sure to blow them out before you leave the house. This ritual may seem overly simplistic, however it's a great starting point to getting back on track with your own spirituality. A number of books have quick incantations you can use when lighting the candles to add a little magic to it, or you can write one of your own.

Allyssa from New York

I think I'm a witch, but I am not positive. I see spirits and I have the power to read futures. I want to know if I'm a witch. My friend, who is a witch, said it's possible. I'm 15 years old. Someone help.

Dear Allyssa,

Sweetie, just because you have these extraordinary gifts doesn't mean you're a witch. If you want to be a witch, be a witch. If you want to be a Christian, be a Christian. If you are interesting in learning more about Wicca/witchcraft, a great book to read is Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf.

Charlie from San Diego, CA

For the last few weeks, someone has been putting a rock at my front doorstep even though I keep getting rid of them. Is this part of some spell? Does this have a meaning?

Dear Charlie,

Don't assume it's a human leaving a rock on your doorstop. It could easily be an animal. It's not uncommon for birds to drop pebbles. It also could be a gift offering from a spirit totem, much like your pets bring you gifts.

Joseph from Rochester, NY

Hi there. I'm not sure where to start. I have had a life of extremely bad luck; so bad, in fact, that it seems to be supernatural. When I was three years old, I was victimized by a predator, and I believe this person is committed to evil. He took something from me that day. I know it sounds crazy, but I truly believe that since that day, bad luck has been drawn to me and I have been taken from my life's true path. I believe I was meant to do good and help others, but as things are, I can't even help myself. I need help and advice. How do I rid myself of this dark force that's been with me, and more important, how can I turn the evil back to this person to stop him from hurting more innocents? Believe me, there have been so many victims and no one can stop him. He's protected by evil and ignorance. I will make whatever sacrifice I have to. I will even shed my own blood to stop him if I must to protect the innocent.

Dear Joseph,

First, let me state that I am so sorry you were "victimized by a predator" when you were a helpless baby. You've given no indication of your age, but please hear me when I say you need to get some professional help. Having been a victim myself (now a thriving survivor), I know how much it eats away at you inside. I know the damage predators leave in their wake.

Not only is there a spell for things like this, but there is a fantastic book! Dorothy Morrison wrote Utterly Wicked, and it's definitely a keeper in the library. I suggest you start with the Swifting of Energy Spell (page 100) and then find a nice little hex to send to your predator.  The nice thing about Dorothy's book... there is no sacrifice needed.

Please let me know how you are doing and what hex you decided to use.

Margaret from Small Town, USA

What are some herbs that I can mix for a tea that can help me lose weight?

Dear Margaret,

Red clover has been known to help suppress the appetite. However, red clover is also well known for helping to treat infertility, so if you're drinking red clover tea, put a glove on before the loving starts! Actually, the act of drinking tea alone helps to decrease the appetite because you're putting something in your stomach other than food. So drinking readily available teas from your grocery such as chamomile and lavender work just as nicely.

Hollie from Canberra, Australia

Hi witches! I am a 15-year-old witch who has been practicing basic karma and protection rituals in secret for a few years now. I don't use herbs or gemstones as my parents are conservatives and mistakenly think that witchcraft = evil, stupidity, etc. So far, I've managed with a few black, white, and red candles; no altar, herbs, or incense; and the only gems I have used have been those on a few necklaces. The spells were weak, but did enough of their job.

Anyhow, I have an older friend in university who has horrible anxiety issues. She regularly has panic attacks, and no meds, therapies, or stays at hospitals have helped. In fact, staying at a few hospitals made it worse, but I digress.

I want to cast a spell or two to help her, but I'm not sure how to do so, and whether it can be solely done by candlelight at 3am (hey, it's the only way I can cast spells with my parents!). Some advice would be totally awesome, along with ways to get my hands on herbs and such without my parents getting suspicious.

Oh! And before I go, I noticed a few questions about how werewolves don't exist. I apologize if this comes across as offensive, but I'd love to know about the existence of Fae, demons, and angels. Thanks, guys!

Dear Hollie,

Since you want a spell using candles only, hold a white candle between the palms of your hands. See your friend in your mind's eye. While focusing on your breathing - deeply in through your nose, exhaling through your mouth - see yourself sending calming, soothing energy to your friend. Create a "white light of protection" around your friend. This should roughly look like a bubble encasing your friend. Your love and respect for your friend will help project this energy toward them. This can be done at 3 AM without your parents knowing.

I will not help you obtain herbs without your parents' permission because some herbs can be poisonous. If you want your family to allow you to play with herbs, tell them you would like to begin studying medicinal herbalism. That could open up a creative doorway for you to begin working with herbs. As a side note, medicinal herbalism is a passion of mine!

I don't believe in angels and demons, because to believe in them, I would need to be Christian. I do believe in positive and negative spirits, however. The fae are real, just not in the way that books or movies portray them. If you think about it, some form of fae, dragon, gargoyle, and mythical creatures exist in almost every culture in the world, so there has to be something real about it. Check out Ted Andrews' great series of books about fae and mythical creatures.

Jennifer from South Australia

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know you must be very busy.

I'll be frank - I have visions and symbolic dreams. Recently, I keep seeing these symbols: a tortured bride, the gunpowder plot, and harm being done to children. The bride is usually a victim of abuse from either family or her spouse, or has her wedding being interrupted in a disturbing way. A few times, the bride has been raped and is forced to give birth to a monster. The gunpowder plot pops up everywhere, and I think it may be a reference to an old enemy of mine and possibly explosive anger (my thoughts - he really is an evil individual). The harmed child disturbs me the most. Sometimes it is a baby being stolen from its mother. Other times it is a monster child who despises itself for not being human. Children being kidnapped and tortured also occurs frequently.

I also have sensations of being stalked, and I often feel that someone has ill wishes for me. These visions began this year and may be an omen of events occurring this year. Your advice and interpretations would be much appreciated.

Dear Jennifer,

When it comes to symbolism and/or dreams, it could be any number of things. It could be a past life recollection. If it was, then all three symbols would be from the same past life. If it is a past life recollection, your memories could have started because some part of your life is running parallel to that past life.

If it is a premonition, unfortunately there's really no way to tell who the premonition is about. Because dreams don't give us a clear story with an exact person, the best thing you can do is put up protective measures around yourself. Please read our response to Brittney from Las Vegas for a protection spell you can adapt to fit your situation.
