Jayden from New York

I was given some magical ingredients from a family friend and in it was a handmade wand that she made. However I do not feel connected to this wand and want to make my own. I feel bad for making my own or something bad will happen. I'm not quite sure what I should do.

Dear Jayden,

If you don't feel connected to the wand, then you shouldn't use it at all. We should always feel connected to the tools we use during our rituals/spellwork. Creating your own wand can be a fun and creative way of adding additional energy to it.

You should thank your family friend for their generous gift and keep it as a gift of love. You never know... you could be holding on to that wand for someone you meet later on.

Jo from Holdenville, OK

I'm new to the craft and have only been studying for a short while. I tried to save a dying bird I found in my yard today but was too late. I would like to collect the feathers for future use as this bird was a beautiful blue jay. I don't feel it right just to jerk the feathers out of the poor thing. Is there a spell, ritual, or prayer I should use in order to keep his feathers? Thanks in advance.

Dear Jo,

You could say a prayer saying goodbye to the blue jay and then gently removing the feathers. Be sure to bury the remains once you have finished and give thanks for his gift of feathers.

Karina from Canada

I believe in supernatural magic and stuff, but I don't know if somehow I am supernatural in some way. Is there some way to tell? I often know when the full moon is. It's always when I look outside my window. I can reproduce some animal sounds, and my friend tells me I react like an animal. For example, I sneeze like a cat, and when somebody blows air near my ears I kind of paw my hand like a dog multiple times. I don't know how I should feel about that, and it's scaring me. The most disturbing thing is that I don't feel an attachment to people, even my parents. It's difficult because I love them, but I kind of don't have faith in them.

Dear Karina,

Supernatural magic and stuff (aka movie magic) does not exist.

I'm more concerned with the fact that you don't "feel an attachment to people," especially your parents. There's a word for that and it's sociopath.

Nara from Atlanta, GA

Hey, I wanted to ask is there any way to make someone forget something or a way to compel somebody?

Dear Nara,

Magickally speaking... there is no way to make someone forget something. But there could be a way in the mundane world. Hypnosis, when done by a professional, can help the client forget non-traumatic events. Traumatic events cannot be forgotten because they seep into the subconscious mind and therefore should be worked through via therapy.

As for your second question, yes you can compel some people to do some things.

Cheyenne from Oxnard, CA

I was wondering if you could interpret something I saw in my dream. In the dream I was wearing two necklaces. One had an alchemical symbol (platinum, which looks like a circle and crescent moon), but the pendant itself was gold with a diamond in the circle. The crescent moon-looking part was above the circle rather than on the side. The other necklace was a clear crystal with a tiny metal plate on it with words I couldn't interpret. I'm not too sure there's any significant meaning to what I saw, but I feel strongly inside me that there is something about it I should know.

Dear Cheyenne,

The symbol could represent the witches' Horned God. The crescent represents the horns of a stag, bull, goat, etc. The circle underneath represents the sun. Gold is generally the color of the Sun God. Now the diamond could represent any number of different things like; healing, fertility, easing depression, etc.

Clear crystal magnifies the energy of any gemstone it's near.

Hope this helps!

Maria from Chapel Hill, NC

How do I know if my stepdaughter and her mother cast a spell on my family?

Dear Maria,

Honestly, this question can only be answered with additional information. You haven't mentioned what is going on with you and/or your family. Is there a specific area you feel is being effected more than other areas?

Chad from Houston, TX

My wife and I have been together four years. Two years into it, we were blessed with twin boys. Well then our little girl snuck in there right after and was born 11 months later. All healthy. Our relationship was good both emotionally and physically. We had our ups and downs like all do. Well, this past April everything changed. She went from a loving and caring person to this cold and cruel person. Now she had been taking meds for pain for a long time and had just recently stopped taking them, but I never expected this. Her behavior is nothing short of ruthless. In fact, I've now lost everything and I'm living in a car, have not seen my kids in over a month, and am barely able to eat. My question is, is there something to help me take whatever may be causing this away so I can bring my family back together? I don't mind doing the work, but I can't even get my foot in the door.

Dear Chad,

Is it possible that your wife has postpartum depression or even postpartum psychosis? Postpartum depression is something that happens to almost every woman after she gives birth. For more information on this, please visit Postpartum Progress.

I hate to ask this, but are the children safe with her?

Please get back to me.

Adam from Albuquerque, NM

When I stared at myself in my bathroom mirror, my face distorted and changed into a demon and two other men I never met. Research shows me that I was scrying. My question is how do I remove those evil spirits within? Prayer didn't work, fasting didn't work, and going to church to cast it out didn't work. Iv'e been studying about invocation and evocation, but that stuff seems complex. Is there a simple way to banish the evil within me? At first these things terrified me. Now I'm used to it. Any feedback would greatly appreciated.

Dear Adam,

I really don't feel that you looking into the mirror would be considered scrying, since scrying means you are intentionally looking for something in the mirror.  Whatever you saw may not be "in" you but in the mirror you were looking in. Mirrors can hold energy and/or spirits. Personally I would get rid of the mirror, but if you have an emotional attachment to the mirror try cleansing it with sage or sweetgrass.

Neil from Johannesburg, South Africa

Hi, I have an odd question. I might have seen something that I can't explain. I think I saw something kill the neighbor's dog, but I'm not sure what. I thought it was a weird dream at first, but the next morning I found out that the dog was dead. It died from the cold. The weird thing is in the "dream" I saw a shape touch the dog and it froze. Could what (the thing) I saw have been real or should I dismiss this as a creepy coincidence?

Dear Neil,

OMG I have no idea what the "shape" could have been. Do you have any idea how old the dog was or if the dog was sickly?

Friday, June 13, 2014

Laurie from Trinity, TX

I had something odd happen today that I have never seen before and I would like to hear your take on it. My pentagram is on a ribbon around my neck. Today it came off the ribbon with the ribbon still knotted at my neck, and the ring on it has no gap in it. Have you heard of something like this occuring before, and what does it mean? My pentagram never left my body. It was against my heart behind my bra strap.

Dear Laurie,

Very interesting. Sounds like your pentagram needed to protect your heart.

Abbey from Woodbridge, VA

Hello. So my question is... I would like to silence myself. I found a spell done by Dorothy Morrison to stop gossip. Would that work on me if I talk to much? You see, sometimes no one listens to me, and no matter how much I scream and yell I'm ignored. In all the books I read they say to stay silent and listen much. I just want to write about it instead of asking for help and talking to everyone.

Dear Abbey,

I'm a huge fan of Dorothy Morrison and her books. Make sure you modify the wording so the spell is about yourself and not someone else.

Good luck!

Latoya from Washington, D.C.

How do you  know if you have been love hexed?

Dear Latoya,

This is a really hard one to answer because a "love hex" and a break up can seem like the same thing.

Usually the biggest indicator is a 100% complete turnaround. Meaning yesterday your lover was happy, loving, intimate, and fully in the relationship, and today they want absolutely nothing to do with you. When they leave, they remove all ties. They don't hate you... they just want nothing to do with you.

Now, before you (or any of my readers) think... OMG I've been love hexed... ask yourself these four questions:

1. Was the relationship really "happy" or were you just fooling yourself?
2. Was your partner really happy with you or were you just fooling yourself?
3. Was there a problem(s) in the relationship that just did not resolve itself?
4. Did your partner ever talk about breaking up and you talked them out of it?

Brad from Krotz Springs, LA

Can you make me a spell to make me a vampire, with dragon wings covered with porcupine quills, my eyes like reptile eyes, big dragon legs and feet, a gigantic devil tail, horns like Hellboy in the first movie, sharp spiky bones covering my entire right arm, and a gigantic blade made of indestructible bones as my left arm? Please say that you can!!!!!!!???????

Dear Brad,

WOW... this is a very detailed question. But the answer is still NO.

Cory from High Ridge, MO

Is it possible to be cursed by someone who doesn't know magic? I ask because a guy I was in army with had the world's worst luck, luck bad enough that you literally thought you could see a dark cloud above his head. Anyway, we angered him one day because he had unfortunate luck that got us all laughing at him. I was two weeks from being discharged and going home, and at the height of his temper, he said he was passing his terrible luck on to me to take home. Since then, my luck just does not give me a break, and it's been ten years. He is only link I have to when it seemed my luck took a turn for the worse. Thanks.

Dear Cory,

Yikes!!!! Guess you'll think twice before laughing at someone's terrible luck next time, huh? Hopefully you learned a powerful lesson ;-)

To change your luck you need to start with smudging (wafting smoke over) yourself and your home with a bundle of sage. Make sure you start at the very bottom of your home and work your way to the very top. As for smudging yourself, you'll want to start at your feet and carefully move to the top of your head.

Immediately after smudging, you'll want to sit down visualize (see/sense/feel/know) all the "bad luck" moving away from you. See the "dark cloud" leaving your body and dissipating harmlessly away from you.

Lastly, you'll want to pray to whatever Divine you recognize and ask them to grant you positive luck/energy.

Lindsay from Boca Raton, FL

This guy I love and have a deep connection with is 23 years older then me. I can't stand to be apart from him. We both feel the same about each other, but the obstacle is our age difference. Is there some kind of magic spell that will reverse his age? If yes, what is the spell and/or can I have a Djinn cast it for me?

Dear Lindsay,

Sorry Lindsay, there isn't a spell to turn back the sands of time. If you two truly love each other AND you are both of legal age, then the age difference really shouldn't make a difference. Love is love and a simple number won't come between that.

Neil from Johannesburg, South Africa

Hi. I would like to know whether or not supernatural gifts can be passed on from one person to another. If yes, how could someone get rid of said gift? Please help. Thanks!

Dear Neil,

No... a supernatural gift cannot be passed on to another person.

It would be easier if I knew what "gift" you wanted to get rid of. Most psychic gifts, such as empathy and clairvoyance, can be shielded using gemstones like blue opal and black tourmaline.

Megi from Vlore, Albania

Hey, I am thinking of casting a love spell on someone I like. Can you tell me any good, yet easy to do, ones? No "lights off" or scary things cause I'm not able to do them. Are there any consequences to this spell (this is the first I'm going to try, beginner witch) because I read online that it can backfire you sometimes. Like instead of making the guy fall for you, you fall for him even harder. Is that true? What about voodoo dolls? Do they work for this? Are they dangerous?! Any last advice for a soon-to-be-witch like me? Thanks.

Dear Megi,

I'm not a big fan of love spells simply because there can be too many outside variables.  Plus if someone is going to love me I want them to love ME and not some spell I worked.

Now... having said that... spells can be as simple as lighting a pink candle with the name of your love on it to something as complicated as a full blown ritual.

For a fairly easy to do spell, simply modify the spell I suggested to Merlin from Camelot, VA.

Since you're a beginner I would stay away from voodoo dolls!

Shirley from Woodbridge, VA

I bought a love spell and the directions says to do it on a Monday or Friday during the waxing moon cycle. When is this going to happen and what time is best?

Dear Shirley,

A great night to do this would be June 13, 2014 because Friday is the day of Venus AND it's a full moon.

Don from Jackson, MI

I need to know if your father can damn you. My dad was a real mental case. He would fly off the handle at the drop of a hat. His favorite condemnation was "GOD DAMN YOU TO HELL" or "GOD DAMN YOUR LOOKS." My question is CAN this be interpreted as a spell or seen as a source of damnation? My life after he died seemed to spiral out of control; I lost my wife, lost my house, lost my girlfriend, lost my job, became an alcoholic, my health is now deteriorating, and I really don't think I have much time. I was injured in the military and I've given up on the VA. I can't work now and Social Security told me to take a hike. I don't like being a burden and am ok with the idea of my demise. I believe I am cursed by this man. I saw three crows the other day in the graveyard. This is supposed to be the indicator of a curse. I'm making my will now and I want to be buried in Canada. I think this may protect my soul from the curse. Do you think I am right?

Dear Don,

I'm hoping this response finds you alive and holding on because this "question" reads a little like a suicide note.

I know first hand how detrimental parents' words can be to a child.  Your life is less about a curse and more about mental, emotional, and verbal abuse, which are just as damaging as physical and sexual abuse.

When we experience severe traumas in our life (abusive parents and going to war) we can, and do, suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD can lead to severe depression, addictions to self-medicating substances, and extreme personality changes.

Please don't give up and especially don't give up on the VA. They've been in the news A LOT lately and they are under a lot of scrutiny so now might be the best time to get yourself back into the VA and ask about medications and therapies for PTSD and severe depression.

Please keep me updated on your progress and I'll keep you in my thoughts and conversations with my Lord and Lady.
