Hello, Ask-A-Witch team! I notice that I have a strong attraction to certain herbs, stones, etc, but I also have some strong aversions. The attraction makes sense to me, but I have a harder time understanding why I feel negatively about certain natural substances. Why might someone have an aversion to a certain type of tree or stone? Thanks!

Dear Diana,

The "aversions" you feel are simple to explain. The energy of the substance does not resonate with your own personal energy. It's really no big deal, just don't use those items in your personal practice.

Does having your own initials in palms of your hands mean anything?

Dear Karla,

To the best of my knowledge, no. People with straight lines in their names will often find them in their palms. I, K, L, M, N can be found in many palms.

Hello, my question is about romantic/love relationships. Me and my boyfriend are traveling apart for months (like, he's in a different country) and he expects monogamy. I feel deprived. Is he only harmed if he finds out? Or is something sacred broken? What is a witch's take on relationships? Thank you!

Dear Katrina,

If you and your boyfriend are in a committed relationship and have NOT agreed to see/date/have sex with other people... then yes... something sacred is broken. If you are feeling deprived, then try to spice things up while he's gone. Send sexy letters or pictures. Masturbate with thoughts and images of him. Set up a time to have an intimate phone call. There are lots of things you can do to help your relationship through this difficult and lonely time.

My boyfriend has seen and heard a crow fly above him, but it wasn't there and he was inside his apartment. I was wondering if this means anything. I can't find any information on it. Thank you.

Dear Chrystal,

Crows are usually a sign of a message from the Divine. I suggest he pay attention to what's going on around him and take note of anything odd or reoccurring.

Merry Meet, team. I may know the answer to this, but I feel it never hurts to ask anyway. I leave my magickal tools hidden in a specific cupboard and came to find that said tools were removed and pack on a shelf (the point at which of course I remembered to breathe deeply for fear that I might throw the unpacker with a shoe). My understanding is that our tools build up magickal energy the more we use them. Does this, therefore, mean that I have to cleanse them again and once more accumulate that energy? Thank you always for the sage advice. Blessed be.

Dear Kurt,

It would be considered rude if another person touched your magickal items without your permission IF they knew what those tools where. Believe it or not, some people are completely clueless when it comes to things like that. Make sure you tell the person not to do it again.

Our magickal tools do accumulate energy each time we use them, but we should always cleanse any negative energy off of them a few times a year. I would cleanse and reconsecrate your items before using them again, but have no fear... they'll be just as powerful as they were the last time you used them.

I have severe panic disorder with horrific panic attacks. I am scared to live and die. I am scared to be in a car with other people, and the list goes on and on. I was wondering if there is a ritual that can be performed to remove my fears. I remember when I was little, my mom took my brother to a curandero for terrible nightmares when we lived in Texas. After that visit, he longer has had any nightmares. Any help is very much appreciated. I have no social life, I am a hermit. Please help.

Dear Vanessa,

Seek professional help. You have a mental disorder, meaning your brain is sick, and it needs to be treated medically.. with modern medicine. There is no reason for you to have to suffer through a crippling panic disorder.

Spells and rituals to remove fears are only referring to small fears and would be useless to you.

Once you've found a doctor you like AND after you have stabilized on your medications, there are gemstones and herbs you could carry with you to help you feel more confident as you reintroduce yourself to the social world.

Please send us a message to let us know how you're doing.

I'm attending college in South Carolina/USA and the college ring is only available in gold unless you have a religious exemption. After spending time meditating with different crystals and metals, I discovered that I have an aversion to gold. Being in contact with the metal makes me feel hot, antsy, and uncomfortable, so I never wear it. What do other witches know about aversions? How do I explain it to my school?

Dear Cory,

The aversion you're feeling is most likely the energy gold metal naturally has doesn't mesh well with your own personal energy. Simply tell your school that you have an allergy to gold. Hopefully they'll understand since it's actually not that uncommon.

This is going to sound stupid, but I am a strong believer in vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. When you guys say Ask-A-Witch, do you mean herbs and stuff? Or do you actually mean like being able to use telekinesis and stuff like that? If so, are you just born like that or can you train? I'm almost obsessed with supernatural beings, and can you answer the question are supernatural vampires real?

Dear Zoe,

I'm sorry honey... but I don't believe supernatural vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. are real. The world would be a much more interesting place if they were.

For a while now, I've been noticing that I can think things in my mind and other people will respond as if I had said them out loud. Now, usually I dismiss this because it's only with simple things like "Where are you going?" or "Where'd you get your shirt?" until recently.

There's this cute girl I know whose roommate left for the weekend, so she pushed their beds together to make one super-bed. As she was saying goodbye to me yesterday, the Johnny Bravo part of my brain thought: "Wow, it must be pretty great having that whole bed to yourself." And then she turned her head and smiled and said, "Yeah, it is!"

Now I'm kind of convinced there's something weird going on. Well, weird things happen to me all the time. But this is cool enough that it prompted me to start thinking.

You see, I don't mind other people picking up what I'm thinking too much, but I'm just worried about the implications of having this kind of ability. This bro with a crystal collection told me I might be gaining subconscious control of my aura. I don't know what it is.

I suppose what I am trying to ask is, though I can't seem to control when I'm using the abilities I feel like I have, are there any particular ethical/moral guidelines I should try to follow as someone who has them? In other words would the Gods frown upon me telepathically hitting on people? I'm concerned about being corrupted by my power and turning into a grade A douche, and/or karma dropkicking me in the balls. Thanks!

Dear David,

Your "aura" is the energy field around your body. It's how your body sends out and receives energy. When you have a thought, it becomes energy and can move from your mind to your aura. Once it's in your aura, other people can "read" (pick up on) what you've been thinking. The more powerful your thought is, the more powerful the energy your thought creates. Not everyone will be able to pick up on this energy/thought.

The only ethical/moral guideline you need to follow is this... DO NOT FORCE OTHER PEOPLE TO DO YOUR BIDDING. That would definitely throw you into the grade A douche category.

By the way... your comment "Karma dropkicking me in the balls" had me laughing for an hour! Thank you for brightening my day!
